Has Nelson Asofa-Solomona<\/a> passed his use-by date at the Storm<\/a>?<\/p>\n

The question has to be asked after the game’s biggest man proved a big liability for Melbourne in Thursday night’s 30-18 loss to the rampaging Broncos in Brisbane<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Nelson spent time in the sin bin for yet another dangerous tackle<\/a>, using his shoulder to the head of Broncos forward Ben Talty.<\/p>\n

When the NRL<\/a> released the charge sheet on Friday morning it put the enforcer’s finals campaign in danger. He will be banned for three weeks with an early guilty plea or risks four if he defends the charge at the judiciary and loses.<\/p>\n

The giant forward, with a long record for high shots, has already been suspended this season and may not play again after his latest brain explosion.<\/p>\n

Nelson has been penalised eight times in his 12 games in 2025 and at 29, the game seems to be moving past him.<\/p>\n

His massive frame is struggling to keep up with the ever-increasing speed of the game and he has problems bending his back down low enough not to make head contact with opponents.<\/p>\n

Discipline is vital in the final series and Nelson is always in the eye of the referees and bunker because of his take-no-prisoners approach.<\/p>\n

At a time in the game when any tackle even close to the head gets scrutiny, he is a ticking time bomb.<\/p>\n

His tackle on Talty was careless at best, reckless at worst and cost his team dearly as he spent 10 minutes in the bin.<\/p>\n

Craig Bellamy wasn’t happy with the big prop’s attitude earlier in the season and will be seething at this latest indiscretion, which comes after he conceded THREE penalties against the Roosters in last week’s heavy loss.<\/p>\n

The Storm have now conceded 70 points in two games<\/a> leading into the finals and the team clearly needs a shake-up.<\/p>\n

It’s highly likely that even if Nelson wasn’t charged by the judiciary, he would have lost his place in the team in any case for next weekend.<\/p>\n
