The Gold Coast Suns\u2019 finals\u2019 dream is still alive after retiring club champion David Swallow lifted his side to a one-point win in fairytale scenes to end Fremantle\u2019s season.<\/p>\n

With Mac Andrew\u2019s clutch goal with 72 seconds left tying the scores in Saturday night\u2019s elimination final in Perth, Swallow then thought he\u2019d delivered the biggest goal in Suns history with just nine seconds to play to send the club through to a semi final.<\/p>\n

While it was determined the goal was touched on the mark by review, the point was enough to seal the 11.14 (80) to 12.7 (79) victory at Optus Stadium.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the biggest moment in the Suns\u2019 history,\u201d Fox Footy caller Dwayne Russell said.<\/p>\n

The result ensures the club made history at Optus Stadium with their first-ever AFL finals win in extraordinary and joyous scenes for Damien Hardwick’s side.<\/p>\n

Bailey Humphrey\u2019s three-goal second term proved the difference in what had been an arm-wrestle up until that point, while star duo Matt Rowell and Noah Anderson combined for 66 disposals in the midfield to lead their side.<\/p>\n

The one-point result ensured Swallow\u2019s farewell tour rolls on for at least one more game \u2013 a semi final meeting with the Lions in Brisbane.<\/p>\n

And while it was jubilation for the Suns, it was devastating for Justin Longmuir\u2019s Dockers who threw everything at the Gold Coast \u2013 but left their run too late in the final game of Nat Fyfe\u2019s glorious career.<\/p>\n

Luke Jackson\u2019s goal late in the fourth term put Fremantle in front for the first time with three minutes still to play.<\/p>\n

But Fremantle couldn\u2019t hold on late.<\/p>\n

Two-time Brownlow Medallist Fyfe bid farewell to the record 57,507 crowd after earlier announcing his retirement.<\/p>\n

While there\u2019ll be disappointment for the Dockers, a big talking point will centre another off the ball free kick \u2013 after the drama surrounding Lion Cam Rayner<\/a> on Friday night.<\/p>\n

It was midway through the second term, with Freo leading 32-21 when the match turned sharply in Gold Coast\u2019s favour.<\/p>\n

Karl Worner had been awarded the 50m penalty to walk him out of defence as Touk Miller failed to stand when told to do so.<\/p>\n

But instead of being able to send the kick inside 50, off the ball contact from Pat Voss on Sun Wil Powell saw the free kick reversed in the middle of the ground.<\/p>\n

And from there, the Suns kicked the next four goals of the game to open up a 25-point half time buffer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI heard you say in the call Bucks that we\u2019re going to see a lot more players flopping behind the ball because they\u2019re being rewarded,\u201d Fox Footy\u2019s Kath Loughnan started.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a game of strength,\u201d Collingwood legend Nathan Buckley explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think Pat Voss is doing any more than trying to push his player off to potentially create some space.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is what we don\u2019t see that often \u2013 If you\u2019re at the ground you see it. If you\u2019re watching it on the TV there\u2019s a lot of work that\u2019s being done off ball to prepare to go and win that ball \u2013 whether it\u2019s a defender owning position or whether it\u2019s a forward trying to create space.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is something that happens 150 times a game.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn that particular occasion, Pat Voss won that contest by too much \u2013 and then was awarded a free kick against.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that needs to be let go.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the time of the reversal, four-time premiership winner Jordan Lewis was adamant the call was incorrect.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s not a free kick \u2013 we saw this the other night,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cDid they watch last night\u2019s game do you think these umpires?\u201d Dwayne Russell added.<\/p>\n

\u201cSurely they would have got a little bit of a chat about what was or wasn\u2019t a free last night.\u201d<\/p>\n
