Amanda Anisimova has earned praise for overcoming her “humiliating” 6-0, 6-0 loss to Iga Swiatek in the Wimbledon final only two months ago.<\/p>\n

The young American bounced straight back up and made it all the way to the US Open<\/a> final, falling short again in a much-improved effort, this time against Aryna Sabalenka<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Anisimova dug deep in the loss, going down 6-3, 7-6 (7-3), but also beat Swiatek in the quarter finals to get a modicum of revenge. <\/p>\n

Former Australian tennis star Wally Masur believes the mental toughness to overcome her Wimbledon thrashing so quickly proves she is a future star of the court.<\/p>\n

“Great to see Anisimova after such a disappointing Wimbledon final get the redemption here at the U.S Open,” Masur told Nine’s Wide World of Sports.<\/p>\n

“She’s done unbelievably well. She moves into the top five and I think she will be lifting one of these trophies pretty soon.<\/p>\n

“You can’t underestimate how damaging, how humiliating that Wimbledon final must have been for Anisimova. To exorcise those demons so quickly shows some real poise and character and maturity.<\/p>\n

“So it’s great to see her at the top of her game. I think sport thrives on people pushing the established order and Anisimova is certainly doing that.<\/p>\n

“It was a good final. Anisimova was actually dictating play. She hit more winners and made more errors. She was trying to make things happen.<\/p>\n

“Maybe this a moment for her to look back on that match and maybe think about percentages and what’s going to get the job done in the future.”<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old will certainly be one to watch come the Australian Open in January.<\/p>\n
