Staff at BUG FILMS<\/a> aims to present anime at even higher quality<\/p>\n

The staff for the television anime<\/a> of Kamome Shirahama<\/a>‘s Witch Hat Atelier<\/a> manga announced on Saturday that the anime has been delayed from 2025 to 2026. The staff cited the ability “to present the charm of the project at an even higher quality.”<\/p>\n

Ayumu Watanabe<\/a> (Ace Attorney<\/a>, Doraemon<\/a> films) is directing the anime at BUG FILMS<\/a>. Hiroaki Kojima<\/a> (animation producer for Komi Can’t Communicate<\/a>) is producing. Kairi Unabara<\/a> (Pok\u00e9mon Evolutions<\/a>) is designing the characters. Yuka Kitamura<\/a> (Elden Ring) is composing the music. <\/p>\n

The manga’s story centers on Koko, a girl who lives in a little village, and who has always dreamed of becoming a wizard. But being born without magical aptitude meant that she could never become a wizard, and could never hope to witness magic’s spark. She gave up on her dream. But one day, a traveling wizard named Kiefley came to her village, and she happened to see him performing magic.<\/p>\n

Kodansha<\/a>‘s Morning two<\/a> magazine had announced<\/a> in April 2022 that the manga was getting an anime adaptation.<\/p>\n

Crunchyroll<\/a> will stream<\/a> the anime as it airs.<\/p>\n

Shirahama launched the Witch Hat Atelier manga in Kodansha’s Morning two magazine in July 2016. Kodansha USA Publishing<\/a> began releasing<\/a> the series in English in April 2019. <\/p>\n

The series was nominated<\/a> for the Best Comic award at Angoul\u00eame International Comics Festival in January 2019. The manga was also nominated<\/a> for the 11th Manga Taisho awards in 2018. The series ranked<\/a> in the top 10 on the list of the best manga for male readers in the 2018 edition of Takarajimasha<\/a>‘s Kono Manga ga Sugoi! (This Manga Is Amazing!) guidebook. The manga ranked<\/a> on American Library Association’s (ALA’s) Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) Top Ten Great Graphic Novels for Teens list in 2020. The series won<\/a> Best Manga at the Harvey Awards in October 2020.<\/p>\n
