The late afternoon slate of games for Week 1 has a couple of intriguing matchups, highlighted by a divisional showdown in Green Bay<\/a> when the Detroit Lions<\/a> face the Packers. Detroit swept the season series last year, so Green Bay will be looking for revenge during the debut of their newest defensive weapon<\/a>, former Dallas Cowboy Micah Parsons.<\/p>\n

Detroit is a team that went through major changes during the offseason, losing both coordinators to head coaching jobs. Ben Johnson took his talents<\/a> to Chicago and will make his first visit to Motown as the opposing coach in Week 2. The Lions struggled through the preseason, going 1-3, causing some to worry. Former DC Aaron Glenn left to coach the NY Jets, so all eyes will be on the Lions’ new coordinators from the first snap.<\/p>\n

Green Bay got a new lease on life last week when they pulled off the trade to acquire Parsons for a couple of (likely late) first-round picks and Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark. While Parsons is dealing with a back injury, he is expected to suit up for Week 1 even if it takes an epidural <\/a>to do so. The Packers seemingly switched out one All-Pro defender for another as they released cornerback Jaire Alexander<\/a> in the offseason. Packers QB Jordan Love will be under a microscope after having a surgical procedure on his left thumb recently.<\/p>\n
