{"id":127058,"date":"2025-09-08T05:15:08","date_gmt":"2025-09-08T05:15:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/127058\/"},"modified":"2025-09-08T05:15:08","modified_gmt":"2025-09-08T05:15:08","slug":"czech-police-apprehend-man-driving-ferrari-f1-liveried-gp2-car-on-motorway-%c2%b7-racefans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/127058\/","title":{"rendered":"Czech police apprehend man driving Ferrari F1-liveried GP2 car on motorway \u00b7 RaceFans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police in the Czech Republic have stopped a man driving a GP2 car, styled to look like a Ferrari Formula 1 chassis, on a public road.<\/p>\n<p>The man was apprehended in Buk after his distinctive car was spotted speeding on the D4 motorway south of Prague.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThanks to reports from drivers, this morning we stopped a formula car driver in the village of Buk which had been speeding along the D4 motorway,\u201d said a statement issued by the police force.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPolice identified the driver as a 51-year-old man and later took him to the district station to give an explanation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The police said the man was unwilling to co-operate. \u201cThe driver, who was stopped by the police and identified in the car, refused to comment on the whole situation when asked to explain. The police will proceed with the entire matter into administrative proceedings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.racefans.net\/2025\/09\/07\/czech-police-apprehend-man-driving-ferrari-f1-liveried-gp2-car-on-motorway\/racefansdotnet-ferrari-gp2-motorway-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-558126 nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/racefansdotnet-ferrari-gp2-motorway-2-470x258.jpg\" alt=\"A man drove a GP2 car styled to look like a Formula 1 Ferrari on a motorway\" width=\"470\" height=\"258\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-558126\"  \/><\/a>The GP2 car had been spotted several times on the motorwayThe driver is likely to face a fine and a ban from driving, according to the police. He is believed to have been spotted driving the car on previous occasions over several years (see video below).<\/p>\n<p>The car is a Dallara GP2\/08 chassis, which was used by the former GP2 series between 2008 and 2010. The championship is now known as Formula 2.<\/p>\n<p>The red livery and \u2018Marlboro\u2019 logos indicate the car is an unauthorised replica styled on Ferrari\u2019s F1 cars of the mid-to-late 2000s.
