Late-night hosts react to speculation over Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s health and the newly released screenshot of Trump\u2019s alleged lewd birthday letter<\/a> to Jeffrey Epstein.<\/p>\n

Jon Stewart<\/p>\n

Jon Stewart<\/a> returned to his Monday perch for The Daily Show\u2019s new season amid rampant speculation<\/a> over the president\u2019s health<\/a>, after he wasn\u2019t seen in public for several days over Labor Day weekend. \u201cYou people, you reporters, have no chill!\u201d Stewart mock-scolded after several clips of talking heads wondering if Trump had died. \u201cGuy can\u2019t take a few days for some R&R and a non-surgical breast reduction without everybody suddenly pulling out the toe tags? It does say something about the ubiquity of Donald Trump in our lives that we don\u2019t hear from him for 20 minutes and we\u2019re like: \u2018He\u2019s dead!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course Trump didn\u2019t die in office,\u201d he added. \u201cBut I wouldn\u2019t put it past him, trying once again to take credit for something Biden had already accomplished.\u201d<\/p>\n

Still, Stewart conceded, \u201csomething is up with his health\u201d. He played another series of clips of reporters commenting on the president\u2019s swollen ankles, bruised hands and \u201clumpy\u201d eyes.<\/p>\n

\u201cSee, this is the problem with our superficial Instagram culture,\u201d he joked. \u201cWe have unrealistic expectations in this country about the amount of fluid our bodies should be able to clear subcutaneously. It sends the wrong message to young people. These really are not medical appraisals. It\u2019s just more like insults.\u201d<\/p>\n

But, to be fair, \u201cit\u2019s not just the physical symptoms that make you think the president is transitioning from this mortal coil. It\u2019s that whenever any of his biggest supporters are with him, it sounds like they\u2019re saying goodbye,\u201d Stewart noted. \u201cOnce you begin to notice it, you begin to see really the whole vibe around this president is very Make-A-Wish kid. Everyone who shows up to his office makes one of his dreams come true.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stewart listed some of these so-called \u201cMake-A-Wish moments\u201d, such as Trump receiving an honorary United States Marshals Service badge, calls for him to receive a Nobel peace prize<\/a>, and the supreme court allowing<\/a> federal agents to deport people based on their race or spoken language.<\/p>\n

\u201cHey, the good news: the supreme court supports affirmative action based on race,\u201d Stewart said. \u201cThe bad news is that action is Ice deporting you. What the fuck? What kind of Make-A-Wish kid wants to nullify the fourth amendment?\u201d<\/p>\n

Stewart concluded with a black-and-white filter mimicking The Twilight Zone. \u201cFor your consideration: a nation held hostage by the fragile ego of a manbaby president, who may or may not be dying of hand syphilis,\u201d he said. \u201cI don\u2019t know if he\u2019s dying. He\u2019s weirdly puffy. And who we\u2019re trapped with for at least three more years \u2026 in The Twilight Zone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stephen Colbert<\/p>\n

Stephen Colbert<\/a> celebrated the 10th anniversary of The Late Show on Monday but remained focused on current events \u2013 namely, Trump\u2019s executive order<\/a> renaming the Department of the Defense as the Department of War.<\/p>\n

\u201cOoh, a rebrand!\u201d Colbert joked. \u201cYou know what that means! The Pentagon is getting bangs!\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump explained that the Department of Defense was so named after the country \u201cwent woke\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cRemember, they changed it to the Department of Defense during the Truman administration,\u201d said Colbert. \u201cYou know, that famously woke era. After all, they did drop the atomic bomb from the Enola Gay \u2026 What\u2019s wrong with Enola Straight, huh?\u201d<\/p>\n

In other news, \u201cno matter how many Democratic cities Donald Trump invades, the Jeffrey Epstein story just won\u2019t hang itself\u201d, Colbert quipped. And on Monday, the congressional oversight committee released<\/a> a screenshot of a letter that Trump allegedly wrote to Epstein on Epstein\u2019s birthday, in which it alluded<\/a> to a \u201cwonderful secret\u201d the two shared within a doodle of a naked woman\u2019s body, with Trump\u2019s signature representing pubic hair. (This was after Trump denied the story and sued<\/a> the Wall Street Journal for $10bn.)<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s letter was reportedly within the \u201cfriends\u201d section of Epstein\u2019s birthday book. \u201cIt\u2019s just like the sitcom\u2019s theme song,\u201d Colbert quipped, singing to the tune of Friends: \u201cSo no one told you you were on a pervert\u2019s plane \/ Oh wait, they told you and you still got on his plane.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jimmy Kimmel<\/p>\n

In Los Angeles, Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> relished the boos<\/a> that Trump received while attending the US Open over the weekend. \u201cDo you know how much of a jerk you have to be to get booed by a tennis crowd?\u201d he laughed. \u201cThey\u2019re not, like, natural booers. They\u2019re Chablis-drinking Volvo drivers who think strawberries are dessert. Hockey fans will boo a baby wearing a wrong jersey. Tennis fans? If they\u2019re booing, you deserve it.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the match, Trump sat in the Rolex booth \u2013 \u201canything with a crown is like catnip to him, he can\u2019t resist it,\u201d Kimmel noted. And once again, \u201call eyes were on his hands\u201d. The president\u2019s right hand was obviously plastered with, as Kimmel described it, \u201csome kind of putty\u201d that did not match the color of his skin.<\/p>\n

\u201cBetween his face, his neck and his hand, his skin has more colors than a Sherwin-Williams store right now,\u201d Kimmel joked. \u201cIt\u2019s too bad he hates drag queens, because they could teach him a thing or two about blending foundation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kimmel then pivoted to \u201cthe story Trump doesn\u2019t want you to see\u201d: the ongoing Epstein scandal, especially after Democrats released the image of the apparent birthday letter. \u201cThat is not a birthday note. That is a signed confession,\u201d said Kimmel. \u201cThat letter is so creepy, it should have its own documentary series on Netflix.\u201d<\/p>\n

Seth Meyers<\/p>\n

And on Late Night, Seth Meyers<\/a> briefly reacted to the Epstein birthday note, which was released just before taping. \u201cNow I think I know why he\u2019s been spinning out so much,\u201d he said. \u201cAside from his ties to a notorious sex trafficker, he doesn\u2019t want people to know he\u2019s such a shit artist. Just get a card from Hallmark next time!\u201d<\/p>\n

Meyers also discussed Trump\u2019s rebrand of the Department of Defense, named in 1945, to the less \u201cwoke\u201d title of Department of War.<\/p>\n

\u201cAre you saying America went woke in 1945? I must have missed that in the old news reels,\u201d he laughed. \u201cSo what\u2019s this really about? Is a name change supposed to intimidate our enemies? Or is the intended audience here at home? Because while the president is threatening war abroad, he seems even more interested in waging war against Americans,\u201d such as threatening to deploy national guard troops to Chicago<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m sorry, sir, but this is not going to look good on your application for a Nobel peace prize,\u201d Meyers joked, aiming at Trump supporters clamoring for the award.<\/p>\n
