Emily Blunt recently took to the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival for the festival premiere of The Smashing Machine and, with a single outfit, threw out the style playbook and started a whole new game.

While red carpet style can often feel predictable, Blunt’s choice was a welcome surprise. The 42-year-old Oscar nominee opted for a sheer black top with two cutout sections at her midriff. The design, featuring a lace panel and a halter-style top, created an instant buzz. The top was paired with sleek trousers, allowing her daring upper half to remain the focal point of the ensemble.
