Eric Stonestreet<\/a> and Lindsay Schweitzer are officially husband and wife.\n<\/p>\n The pair tied the knot on Sept. 8, a rep confirmed to PEOPLE. The bride and groom chose the date because it falls between their birthdays.\n<\/p>\n The newlyweds shared the happy news on Tuesday, Sept. 9 in a sweet Instagram post<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n “It’s my birthday and guess what I got,” the 54-year-old actor captioned the wedding photos.\n<\/p>\n In the images, Stonestreet is seen in a fitted navy blazer with a blue tie. His bride wore a satin gown with crystal belt detailing. I love you both! I’m so happy for you!!!!”\n<\/p>\n Ferguson’s real-life husband, Justin Mikita, also shared the love, commenting, “Congrats!”\n<\/p>\n Actress Octavia Spencer wrote, “Congratulations! So that’s our plan and we’re still on track for that.”<\/p>\n The couple have been together for years, and got engaged back in 2021.\n<\/p>\n In August 2017, PEOPLE exclusively confirmed the Modern Family<\/a> alum was dating the pediatric nurse. The two met just one month prior while attending the Big Slick charity weekend in Kansas City in June.\n<\/p>\n \u201cThey are very happy to have met each other. I\u2019m a very high-strung person,\u201d the actor said during a visit to Ellen DeGeneres’ television show.\n<\/p>\n His revelation was a response to the host claiming Schweitzer was good for him because he\u2019s a hypochondriac. \u201cYou can tell, right? What are you looking at, ma\u2019am?!\u201d he jokingly yelled at a woman who was seated in the audience before reassuring her: \u201cMy nurse girlfriend will take care of you.\u201d\n<\/p>\n Stonestreet and Schweitzer dated for more than five years before he popped the question. The pair got engaged in August 2021.\n<\/p>\n “We’ve been together for a long time and I just knew I wasn’t going to find a better partner in life than Lindsay,” the Identity Theft star said of his decision to propose. “So it just made the most sense. And I’d taken my sweet old time. The actor admitted he wasn\u2019t knowledgeable about the topic, but luckily, Schweitzer\u2019s children saved the day. “I asked Lindsay’s boys, who are 9. I was like, ‘Do you know much about this world?’ And they were like, ‘We watch YouTube videos on this all the time,’\u201d he said, adding that Schweitzer has special skills<\/a> of her own.\n<\/p>\n “She’s just a good person and a great mom. I joke all the time that she’s uniquely qualified to be my fianc\u00e9e because she can put up with me.”<\/p>\n
