NRL premiership winner Michael Ennis<\/a> has landed a new job after quitting the Sea Eagles<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The former champion hooker was on Wednesday unveiled as St George Illawarra<\/a>‘s assistant coach for the 2026 season.<\/p>\n

The 41-year-old will work alongside his 2016 premiership winning coach Shane Flanagan<\/a> at the Dragons.<\/p>\n

“I’m really excited to be joining the Dragons. It’s a proud club with a rich history, and I’m grateful to Shane and the organisation for the opportunity to be part of the coaching staff,” Ennis said in a statement.<\/p>\n

“I really enjoyed working with Shane during my playing days at Cronulla, and I’m looking forward to linking up with him again.<\/p>\n

“He’s a coach I have enormous respect for, and I can’t wait to contribute alongside him here at the Dragons.”<\/p>\n

Rumours earlier this season claimed Ennis was poised to usurp Anthony Seibold as head coach of Manly<\/a><\/p>\n

Wide World of Sports reported last month a group of Sea Eagles old boys wanted Seibold axed, and either Ennis or Matt Ballin to replace him.<\/p>\n

Seibold remains coach of Manly at this point and Ennis will instead head south to work alongside Flanagan, who recently extended his contract through to the end of 2028.<\/p>\n

“It’s exciting to be able to welcome Mick to the Dragons,” Flanagan said.<\/p>\n

“He brings with him a wealth of experience and a diverse range of knowledge. He’s played under and worked alongside some of the game’s best coaches and will add a lot to our coaching staff here at the Dragons.<\/p>\n

“Mick’s had plenty of success in rugby league and we look forward to him joining our staff.”<\/p>\n

The Dragons haven’t played NRL finals in seven years and have finished 11th and 15th under Flanagan in the past two seasons.<\/p>\n

Ennis played 273 NRL games between the Knights, Dragons, Broncos, Bulldogs, and Sharks, reaching the promised land with Cronulla in 2016.<\/p>\n
