\n\tThe cast and creators of \u201cThe Morning Show<\/a>\u201d hit the red carpet in New York Tuesday night to celebrate the Apple TV+<\/a> show\u2019s fourth season.<\/p>\n

\n\tSpeaking on the carpet at the Museum of Modern Art, the team behind the show addressed the topic of AI, which plays a role in Season 4\u2019s story.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI learned a lot about AI this season,\u201d Mimi Leder, executive producer and director, told Variety. \u201cWhat I learned was it can never, ever replace the human heart and the human connection ever.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMark Duplass, who has played Chip Black on the show since Season 1, said that \u201csomething is going to have to give\u201d within the entertainment industry and its relationship with AI. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI look at AI and think if it\u2019s going to democratize technology and allow someone in West Virginia to make this really cool, interesting action sequence that they never would have been able to make, awesome,\u201d Duplass said. \u201cBut if you\u2019re going to use it to sound mix your movie in an automated way instead of hiring the three guys that have been doing it, we have some issues.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tVariety also asked those in attendance about the recent study out of San Diego State University which found that the percentage of female creators in streaming is at an all-time<\/a> high, 36%. Given \u201cThe Morning Show\u2019s\u201d history of having women in leadership roles in front of and behind the camera, the show\u2019s team was happy to hear the news. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI think that\u2019s very heartening,\u201d said Reese Witherspoon, series star and executive producer. \u201cIt means that all the progress and all the pushing has actually paid off. Women\u2019s stories are important, they matter. And we\u2019re seeing that reflected in the market.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tLeder echoed that sentiment, adding that she and showrunner Charlotte Stoudt make a point of hiring \u201cmostly female directors.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe have a token guy once or twice. People always see Charlotte and I and a large group of women running the show, but we don\u2019t sit there and say \u2018We\u2019re women running the show!\u2019 We\u2019re just filmmakers and storytellers,\u201d she said. \u201cThat\u2019s a big theme this season. Can women do it better? When you\u2019re given the keys of power, be careful what you wish for. Do you really want it? And be careful how you wield it.
