Cory Paix was only 13 years old, when he first caught the eye of Broncos recruitment staff during a football carnival in the country town of Pittsworth.<\/p>\n

At the time, the Toowoomba boy could only dream of what he has gone on to achieve in the maroon and gold jersey.<\/p>\n

12-years on, Paix still has the same character and same hard-working attitude that landed him at the Club in the first place.<\/p>\n

Now, the hooker has signed on for another year, and will remain with the Broncos at least until the end of 2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Club means a whole lot to me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

They took a chance on me as a kid, and it was only fitting that I pay them back.<\/p>\n

Paix worked his way through the Broncos Academy and 20s program, before he was rewarded with his NRL debut in 2020.<\/p>\n

Since then, he has gone on to play more than 60-games for the Club.<\/p>\n

But the road hasn\u2019t always been easy for Paix, who didn\u2019t play in the NRL in 2024.<\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t think I\u2019d ever get back to the NRL, but I always had faith, stuck to my processes and relied on my hard work to put me back in the frame.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got to say it was challenging, but I\u2019m thankful that I got through those times.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve still got plenty to give, and plenty to go as a player and a person.\u201d<\/p>\n

This year, the 25-year-old has only missed a handful of matches, has scored three tries, has three try assists, and barely misses a tackle.<\/p>\n

General Manager of Football Operations, Troy Thomson, said Paix was a reliable squad member. \u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cPaixy has been at the Club since he started his football journey, and he\u2019s worked really hard to be back playing consistently at the top level,\u201d Thomson said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s an important member of the squad and is always looking for ways to develop his craft as a hooker.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is well-liked amongst the group, always has a smile on his face and brings a cheeky energy that lifts those around him.\u201d<\/p>\n
