Chelsea have been hit with\u00a074 charges by the Football Association over alleged payments to agents, the governing body has revealed.<\/p>\n
The charges relate to Roman Abramovich\u2019s time at Stamford Bridge with the Russian making the west London side into one of the biggest clubs in world football.<\/p>\n
Chelsea<\/a> won five Premier League titles, five FA Cups, two Champions Leagues, two Europa Leagues and three League Cups during the Russian\u2019s time at the club.<\/p>\n But that period of success could now come at a cost with the FA hitting Chelsea with 74 charges over\u00a0regulations around agents and third-party investment in players.<\/p>\n A statement from the FA on Thursday read: \u201cThe\u00a0Football\u00a0Association has today charged\u00a0Chelsea\u00a0FC with breaches of regulations J1 and C2 of\u00a0the FA\u00a0Football Agent regulations, regulations A2 and A3 of the FA Regulations on Working with Intermediaries and regulations A1 and B3 of the FA Third Party Investment in Players Regulations.<\/p>\n \u201cIn total, 74 charges have been brought against Chelsea FC.<\/p>\n MEDIAWATCH:\u00a0\u2018Jude Bellingham facing brutal England snub\u2019 by \u2018star-shunning\u2019 Thomas Tuchel<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cConduct that is the subject of the charges ranges from 2009 to 2022 and finality relates to events which occurred between the 2010-11 the 2015-16 playing seasons.<\/p>\n \u201cChelsea FC has until 19 September 2025 to respond.\u201d<\/p>\n The Premier League club almost immediately responded, Chelsea said in their own statement:\u00a0\u2018Chelsea FC is pleased to confirm that its engagement with The FA concerning matters that were self-reported by the club is now reaching a conclusion.<\/p>\n \u2018The Club\u2019s ownership group completed its purchase of the club on 30 May 2022. During a thorough due diligence process prior to completion of the purchase, the ownership group became aware of potentially incomplete financial reporting concerning historical transactions and other potential breaches of FA rules. Immediately upon the completion of the purchase, the Club self-reported these matters to all relevant regulators, including The FA.<\/p>\n MORE ON CHELSEA ON F365 \u2018The Club has demonstrated unprecedented transparency during this process, including by giving comprehensive access to the Club\u2019s files and historical data. We will continue working collaboratively with The FA to conclude this matter as swiftly as possible. We wish to place on record our gratitude to The FA for their engagement with the Club on this complex case, the focus of which has been on matters that took place over a decade ago.\u2019<\/p>\n Under Clearlake\u2019s ownership, Chelsea have once again spent a lot of money in the summer transfer window and former defender William Gallas has warned them of a potential \u201cproblem\u201d with new signing Jorrel Hato.<\/p>\n On Hato,\u00a0Gallas told\u00a0Gambling Zone: \u201cI think we\u2019ll see more of him when the other competitions start to kick into gear.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t expect to see him against the biggest sides in the Champions League, but he should get some time on the pitch in the League Cup, the FA Cup and against the weaker sides in the Premier League.<\/p>\n \u201cI think that will be his chance to show everyone what he can do. Because as a defender, especially at this age, it\u2019s not easy, especially when you\u2019re alongside older players.<\/p>\n \u201cThere are also loads of new players in the squad who are having to adapt themselves. Of course, everyone will be trying to help him, but it\u2019s up to him to show his quality.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m sure he\u2019s got the personality, so that means he won\u2019t be afraid of the challenge.
