{"id":135431,"date":"2025-09-11T14:46:14","date_gmt":"2025-09-11T14:46:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/135431\/"},"modified":"2025-09-11T14:46:14","modified_gmt":"2025-09-11T14:46:14","slug":"yamaha-showcases-v4-powered-motogp-bike-ahead-of-race-debut-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/135431\/","title":{"rendered":"Yamaha showcases V4-powered MotoGP bike ahead of race debut"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yamaha has unveiled its new V4-powered M1 MotoGP prototype ahead of its race debut at this weekend\u2019s San Marino Grand Prix.<\/p>\n<p>The Japanese manufacturer took the covers off the bike, which was painted in a predominantly blue livery, at its hospitality unit in the Misano paddock on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Although Yamaha\u2019s V4 challenger has been in testing for several months, all previous outings took place behind closed doors, making this the first time it was shown in public.<\/p>\n<p>The bike will now make its debut race appearance on Sunday, with test rider <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/driver\/augusto-fernandez\/445329\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Augusto Fernandez<\/a> at the helm.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Yamaha\u2019s star rider <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/driver\/fabio-quartararo\/109330\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Fabio Quartararo<\/a> already sampled the bike in a private test at Barcelona on Monday, and is expected to receive another outing in the forthcoming Dorna test at Misano on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The new M1 represents a complete overhaul of Yamaha\u2019s MotoGP bike, with the shift from an inline four-cylinder to a V4 layout forcing a fundamental redesign of its dimensions.<\/p>\n<p>   <img decoding=\"async\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/1757601970_254_yamaha-factory-racing-v4.jpg\" alt=\"Yamaha Factory Racing V4 &#10;\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" loading=\"lazy\"\/> <\/p>\n<p class=\"title\">Yamaha Factory Racing V4<\/p>\n<p class=\"photographer\">Photo by: Yamaha<\/p>\n<p>Yamaha remains the only manufacturer in MotoGP still running an inline four-cylinder engine, but in recent years it concluded that the concept had reached its limit.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hence, even with a major regulation overhaul coming in 2027 that will see a switch to smaller-capacity 850cc engines, it pressed ahead with the development of the 1000cc V4 motor.<\/p>\n<p>A full debut of the new engine is currently slated for 2026.
