As these gaps close, it can sit alongside Singapore as a more cost-efficient and scalable hub. MOUs are a good starting point, but without follow-through, they risk being little more than headline numbers,\u201d he added.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words mb-4 md:mb-6\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-component\">Tan Aik Keong, founder and chief executive of Bursa-listed Agmo, a digital-solutions and application-development specialist, said: \u201cConversion depends on execution.\u201d He added that Malaysia\u2019s digital infrastructure has improved significantly in recent years, citing stronger compute power for AI, local cloud offerings by hyperscalers and new government policies such as the National Cloud Computing Policy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words mb-4 md:mb-6\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-component\">\u00a0\u201cTalent remains the bigger challenge,\u201d he said. \u201cInitiatives such as Agmo Academy and MyMahir by TalentCorp are helping to train the next generation of professionals to keep pace with regional demand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/1e9cd221f2d8f5750d15ecebe19bc5e39d5ff1522b723e20654771811cc4fdaa.png\" alt=\"\" height=\"760\" width=\"1140\" data-css-class=\" mx-auto\" data-crop-selection=\"landscape\" class=\"block h-full w-full mx-auto\"\/> Tan Aik Keong,\u00a0Agmo founder and CEO, says: \u201cInitiatives such as Agmo Academy and MyMahir by TalentCorp are helping to train the next generation of professionals to keep pace with regional demand.\u201d PHOTO: AGMO HOLDINGS  <\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words mb-4 md:mb-6\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-component\">Pledges from Microsoft, Google and AWS running into the billions have already put Malaysia on the hyperscaler map,\u00a0but whether it can deliver on power, policy and talent will determine if those bets pay off.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words mb-4 md:mb-6\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-component\">Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation announced on Sep 4 that 55 agreements were inked in the AI, cloud, fintech, data-infrastructure, smart-city and agritech segments under its DEX Connex 2025 series from August to September. These agreements involved 217 Malaysian firms and partners in Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words mb-4 md:mb-6\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-component\">Indonesia drew the largest interest, with 83 Malaysian firms securing 26 partnerships in AI, cybersecurity and digital infrastructure \u2013 underscoring Jakarta\u2019s pull as a digital growth market.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words mb-4 md:mb-6\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-component\">The Philippines followed with 14 MOUs involving 49 Malaysian firms and 43 local partners, including a tie-up with Data Centre Incorporated.
