So instead, they scanned the list and created a website sharing his reads called, <a href=\"https:\/\/what-dan-read.com\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">What Dan Read<\/a>.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_8-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> In Pelzer\u2019s obituary, his family shared that his love of reading and libraries first began in 1962, when he was serving as a volunteer in the Peace Corps in Nepal.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_10-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cAfter discovering a library of about 150 paperbacks, he started documenting every book he read,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.egan-ryan.com\/obituary\/Dan-Pelzer\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">obituary<\/a> reads. \u201cOver the next six decades, he read more than 5,000 books.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p> An excerpt of Dan Pelzer&#8217;s lengthy list of reads as shown on the site &#8216;What Dan Read.&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>what-dan-read.com<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_13-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> But despite being incredibly well-read, Pelzer\u2019s family shared that the grandfather\u2019s reading tastes align with \u201chis unpretentious nature.\u201d\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_15-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cWhile Dan conquered all the classics and read every volume to the end, he much preferred John Grisham to James Joyce, calling Ulysses \u2018pure torture,\u2019 \u201c the obituary reads.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_19-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> In a post shared on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/columbuslibrary\/posts\/pfbid0VbX5gAJj2ZfzW9shpyDDR6Rb7aCdCnYMZGMHtgYucuDYCqyMCLgUngEFzhh2Arvhl\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Columbus Metropolitan Library\u2019s Facebook<\/a> page, Pelzer\u2019s daughter, Marci, wrote, \u201cALL of his books were Columbus Metropolitan Library books. Nobody loved the library more than Dan.\u201d\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_21-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cWhen we were little, he took us to the downtown library every Saturday morning and enrolled us in every summer reading program,\u201d Marci shared with the library. \u201cHe was a regular at the Livingston and then Whitehall branches until he could no longer read.
