{"id":140189,"date":"2025-09-13T13:00:12","date_gmt":"2025-09-13T13:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/140189\/"},"modified":"2025-09-13T13:00:12","modified_gmt":"2025-09-13T13:00:12","slug":"dick-johnson-racing-grateful-for-triple-eights-help","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/140189\/","title":{"rendered":"Dick Johnson Racing grateful for Triple Eight\u2019s help"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-250-Dick-Johnson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DICK Johnson<\/a> Racing has thanked Triple Eight after its long-time arch-enemy came to the rescue during qualifying for the AirTouch 500 at The Bend.<\/p>\n<p>The right-front wheel on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-4-Will-Davison\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Will Davison<\/a>\u2019s #17 Mustang came loose while heading out for a mid-session run, forcing the two-time Bathurst 1000 winner to park up near pit exit.<\/p>\n<p>He remained stranded there for some time before Triple Eight chimed in with some Good Samaritan heroics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had to run and get an extension because our spike couldn\u2019t actually reach that far, so the lads got to it pretty quickly,\u201d Triple Eight team manager Mark Dutton explained to V8 Sleuth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s like anything: you hesitate for a little while to see, \u2018do you guys need help? Do you want help? Is it something that is as simple as the wheel has fallen off because it is not done up or has something mechanically failed?\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause we didn\u2019t know that, we didn\u2019t get to it quicker, but the lads jumped in and helped out and let them keep going in the session.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DJR chief David Noble offered his gratitude to the organisation which will replace it as Ford\u2019s homologation team in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t thank them enough for jumping in and trying to help,\u201d said Noble.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/2025-repco-bathurst-1000-official-program?utm_source=SRBuyButton&amp;utm_medium=website\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1756681331_142_2025-repco-bathurst-1000-program_1024x1024.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were trying to get a trolley down, they said they\u2019d put one out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt allowed Will to get out and get back in for the last run. Otherwise you have got to push him back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we still would have got it done but in order for us to get through, a big shout out and thanks to them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Noble however said his team must look itself in the mirror after a string of mechanical woes, particularly on the #17 side, this season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve had too many incidents and issues, so yeah, we have got to get our processes and procedures better,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll have a look at what it was and fix it. But they are all opportunities to grow and get better.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know we have a younger and more inexperienced group but you can\u2019t continue having (problems).
