Detroit Tigers<\/a> ace Tarik Skubal<\/a> is expected to make his next start after he exited Friday night’s 8-2 loss<\/a> to the Miami Marlins<\/a> with tightness in his left side, manager A.J. Hinch told reporters.<\/p>\n

Hinch on Saturday said imaging tests came back negative.<\/p>\n

Skubal threw 45 pitches in 3\u2153 innings Friday, allowing four hits and four earned runs. He walked none and struck out two batters.<\/p>\n

The reigning American League Cy Young Award winner allowed a fourth-inning leadoff single to Heriberto Hernandez<\/a> and then retired Eric Wagaman<\/a> on a fly out to center field before exiting.<\/p>\n

“There are some aches and pains that come and go when you’re out there playing. This one was new to me,” Skubal said after the game. “And that’s kind of what made my decision for me.”<\/p>\n

Skubal, 28, is having another stellar season for the American League Central-leading Tigers. He is tied with Pittsburgh Pirates<\/a> ace Paul Skenes<\/a> for the best fWAR among pitchers in the majors.<\/p>\n
