{"id":14135,"date":"2025-07-22T19:25:10","date_gmt":"2025-07-22T19:25:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/14135\/"},"modified":"2025-07-22T19:25:10","modified_gmt":"2025-07-22T19:25:10","slug":"carmi-manor-fined-25000-for-medication-failures-resulting-in-patient-seizures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/14135\/","title":{"rendered":"CARMI MANOR FINED $25,000 FOR MEDICATION FAILURES RESULTING IN PATIENT SEIZURES"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Carmi Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center has been fined $25,000 by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) for serious failures related to patient medication management, according to the agency\u2019s first quarter 2025 disciplinary report released this week.<br \/>The 74-bed facility, located at 615 Webb Street in Carmi, was found to have failed to obtain scheduled medications from the pharmacy and secure emergency medications, which led to a patient missing or abruptly stopping seizure medication. As a result, the patient suffered seizures, the report stated.<br \/>Carmi Manor has a history of violations and complaints. Since 2022, the facility has been fined a total of $227,464 related to 25 separate complaints, with four complaints filed so far in 2025 and 16 in 2024.<br \/>According to public health records, Carmi Manor is owned by five shareholders, with Baruch Sheps of Stern Consultants in New York holding a 40% majority stake.
