A ’90s Channel 4 game show is making a return to screens with a modern twist in the form of Zapheap, with Robert Llewellyn returning to the helm alongside inventor Colin Furze.<\/p>\n

The modern take on old-school game show will see two teams engineer scrap material into electric-powered machines within a 10-hour timeframe before it is then put to the test in front of a live audience at the Everything Electric Expo<\/a> later this year.<\/p>\n

The two teams will be led by Richard Morgan of Electric Classic Cars and New Electric’s Anne Kloppenberg, and will be available to watch on YouTube.<\/p>\n

Llewellyn said of being joined by Furze: “We are over the moon to welcome Colin Furze as co-host of Zapheap.<\/p>\n

“His extensive experience and boundless enthusiasm as an engineer, inventor, and presenter make him the perfect person to help bring this inspirational game show to life \u2013 for both a new generation and those who remember and loved the original.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019ve been lucky enough to welcome Colin as a keynote speaker at our Everything Electric events in London, and we\u2019re thrilled he\u2019ll be joining us to finally make the Zapheap dream a reality.”<\/p>\n

While Furze added: “Scrapheap Challenge was a massive part of my childhood, it’s one of the things that inspired me to start building in the first place. I hope Zapheap sparks a whole new wave of makers to pick up tools and get inventing.”<\/p>\n

The original series aired from 1998 to 2010, with 11 seasons having aired on Channel 4.<\/p>\n

In addition to the main show, spin-offs Full Metal Challenge and the Scrappy Races rally also aired, along with US edition Junkyard Wars.<\/p>\n
