\n Richmond AFLW ruck Montana McKinnon will miss the remainder of the 2025 AFLW season.\n <\/p>\n
Richmond confirms that AFLW ruck Montana McKinnon suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in the final quarter of yesterday\u2019s match against Geelong.<\/p>\n
McKinnon was in her second AFLW game back from having previously undergone a reconstruction to the same knee in August last year.<\/p>\n
The 24-year-old had also made a handful of appearances at scrimmage level while building up her fitness.<\/p>\n
Richmond Head of Women\u2019s Football, Kate Sheahan said it was a cruel blow for the popular figure.<\/p>\n
\u201cMontana has come into our program from Adelaide and brought so much with her character and energy,\u201d Sheahan said.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo see her suffer another serious injury like this is just so unfortunate.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe put in an enormous amount of work behind the scenes to get back on the park, and if anyone deserved a change of luck this season, it was her.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll give \u2018Monty\u2019 every bit of support she needs to overcome this setback. The entire Club will be behind her as she works towards returning to the field again.\u201d<\/p>\n
McKinnon spent four seasons with Adelaide, playing 32 AFLW games before being traded to Richmond in the 2023 AFLW Trade Period.<\/p>\n
The athletic ruck missed all of last season after rupturing her left ACL in a practice game. She played the two most recent AFLW games before the injury reoccurred.<\/p>\n
