Christian Petracca<\/a>‘s name has again been linked with a move away from Melbourne<\/a>, with the club “delicately” weighing up a potential move.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old pushed for an exit last year during the trade window, but ultimately stayed put with the Demons this season.<\/p>\n

Petracca played in all 23 matches for the Dees this year and while they didn’t make the finals, the star midfielder bounced back from his disrupted 2024 campaign and finished second in the club’s best and fairest voting behind Max Gawn.<\/p>\n

However, with plenty of changes coming to fruition in recent weeks at the club, Nine’s chief AFL reporter Tom Morris has revealed Melbourne are open to trading Petracca.<\/p>\n

“Very delicately and cautiously, things are beginning to move with Christian Petracca,” he wrote via X on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n

“Both parties would be open to a trade, but neither wants to be seen as demanding a break up.<\/p>\n

“Petracca is not as adamant as he was in 2024, and the Demons still value him highly.<\/p>\n

“Definitely still a close watch.”<\/p>\n

Petracca has kicked 200 goals in 209 games since his debut for the Dees a decade ago and played a pivotal role in their 2021 premiership triumph, winning the Norm Smith Medal for the best player in the grand final win over the Western Bulldogs.<\/p>\n

The news comes after the Demons appointed Steven King as their new head coach last week<\/a>, despite reported interest in Collingwood great Nathan Buckley.<\/p>\n
