The <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/stargazing\/eclipses\/partial-solar-eclipse-september-2025-everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-solstice-solar-eclipse\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/stargazing\/eclipses\/partial-solar-eclipse-september-2025-everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-solstice-solar-eclipse\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">partial solar eclipse<\/a> will be visible from New Zealand, Antarctica and the South Pacific.<\/p>\n<p>Although not a total eclipse, this is a deep partial event, with the moon covering up to 86% of <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/58-the-sun-formation-facts-and-characteristics.html\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/58-the-sun-formation-facts-and-characteristics.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the sun<\/a>! Southern New Zealand and Antarctic research stations will see the best views, whilst some Pacific islands will also get a show.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-seasonal\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"c091dd42-a42d-4fa2-b2c1-e08f6cec0a30-2\">This rare timing means the eclipse occurs on the doorstep of the September <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/what-is-an-equinox.html\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/what-is-an-equinox.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">equinox<\/a>, when the sun crosses the celestial equator, marking the start of spring in the Southern Hemisphere and fall in the north.<\/p>\n<p>You may like<\/p>\n<p id=\"a55b24b8-ead9-4775-956f-0efce0fc9937\">Remember: it&#8217;s never safe to look directly at the sun without certified solar eclipse glasses.
