The Central Coast will play host to the Goolagong Shield Gala Day\u00a0on Friday, September 19, celebrating the achievements of more than 180 First Nations students\u00a0who have participated in the NAB AFL Superkick\u00a0program across eight local schools this year.<\/p>\n
Held at the Central Coast Regional Sporting and Recreation Complex, the event is the culmination of a successful initiative funded by the\u00a0AFL NSW\/ACT Community Connect program, aimed at increasing school engagement, physical activity, and cultural pride among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.<\/p>\n
Delivered in partnership with local schools, AFL NSW\/ACT, and community organisations, the NAB AFL Superkick program has used sport as a platform to foster connection, confidence and leadership in young people.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis gala day is not just a celebration of sport, it\u2019s a celebration of culture, identity and community,\u201d AFL Central Coast Participation Co-ordinator Christine Coles said.<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u201cThe response from schools, students and families has been overwhelmingly positive, and we\u2019re proud to see the impact this program is having across the region.\u201d<\/p>\n
