Then: Chairman/CEO/president, U.S. Tennis Association

Now: Executive director, Harlem Junior Tennis & Education Program

How my job has changed: When I was first named a Game Changer, I was serving as president, chairman and CEO of the U.S. Tennis Association, a role I proudly held for four years. Since then, my career has evolved in exciting ways. I’m now the executive director of the Harlem Junior Tennis & Education Program, where we serve youth across Harlem and the greater NYC area, developing champions in tennis, education and wellness.

In addition, in 2021, I authored “Own the Arena” and have embraced opportunities as a global speaker and advocate for tennis and gender equality, diversity and inclusion in sport.

Advice for the Game Changers Class of 2025: Slow down and breathe. You’re already on your way. … Take a moment to reflect on how you got here. Honor those who paved the way for you. Be intentional about building relationships with people who can open new doors, and just as importantly, reach back and lift up the next wave of Game Changers coming behind you. Your journey is about progress, but it’s also about legacy. Own your network to own your legacy.

Most poignant lesson from the past year: I don’t regret anything. I work hard every day to make a difference. One of the most poignant lessons I’ve learned this past year is that even when people excel, go above and beyond or outperform expectations, their accomplishments can still be questioned or dismissed, especially in the current climate where DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) is often misunderstood or unfairly criticized.

It’s disheartening to see diversity initiatives framed negatively, when in fact, diversity of thought and background is a strength.

Then: Chairman/CEO/president, U.S. Tennis Association Now: Executive director, Harlem Junior Tennis & Education Program How my job has…

[565
64,63,77346,10490,48702,85,747,32455,98429
post-145162","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-tennis","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-game-changers","tag-in-depth","tag-print","tag-sports","tag-tennis","tag-usta","tag-youth-sports
["GET
