The Argentine rock legend blends classics with new music in a spirited NPR Tiny Desk set<\/p>\n
\n\tWhat better way to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month than with an Argentine rock icon on Tiny Desk? On Monday, NPR shared Fito P\u00e1ez\u2019s performance, which saw him play songs from across his lengthy discography and also offer the \u201cworld premiere\u201d of a new track.<\/p>\n
\n\tP\u00e1ez, dressed in a sparkly coat, opened his set with the classic \u201cA Rodar Mi Vida\u201d from 1992\u2019s El Amor Despu\u00e9s del Amor, backed by horns, sax, and a pair of backup singers who harmonized with him. \u201cAn unusual version of a very popular song,\u201d P\u00e1ez declared.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\n\tThe musician continued into \u201cMariposa Tecknicolor,\u201d one of his most recognizable songs, from 1994\u2019s Circo Beat, enhancing his futuristic keyboard solo outro. The musician then snuck in a newer track, \u201cSale el Sol\u201d from his March album, Novela<\/a>. \u201cThis is going to be a live world premiere,\u201d he explained before playing the song.<\/p>\n \n\tP\u00e1ez closed his set with a mash-up of \u201cCirco Beat\u201d and \u201cTercer Mundo.\u201d P\u00e1ez held up a megaphone to live up to the circus energy of the song. \u201cBeat Circus is an old provincial circus, filled with scoundrels. It\u2019s more fun than town life\u2026 Everything will change in a matter of seconds. There will be romance, a storm. And there\u2019ll be love,\u201d he declares in the megaphone before going into the fan-favorite.<\/p>\n \t\tTrending Stories<\/p>\n \n\tP\u00e1ez is set to go on a brief U.S. tour <\/a>in November, performing in Los Angeles on Nov. 15, Miami on Nov. 20, and New York City on Nov. 23. <\/p>\n
