{"id":149909,"date":"2025-09-17T14:23:15","date_gmt":"2025-09-17T14:23:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/149909\/"},"modified":"2025-09-17T14:23:15","modified_gmt":"2025-09-17T14:23:15","slug":"ta2-swaps-goodyear-for-hoosier-tyres-ahead-of-mallala-round-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/149909\/","title":{"rendered":"TA2 swaps Goodyear for Hoosier tyres ahead of Mallala Round 6"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THERE will be a major change for TA2 Muscle Car Series competitors next week as the penultimate round of the season takes place at Mallala Motorsport Park.<\/p>\n<p>The V8 category has executed a tyre supplier switch, from Goodyear to Hoosier, since Round 5 last month at Queensland Raceway.<\/p>\n<p>TA2 had been aligned with Hoosier <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/what-tyre-switch-means-for-ta2\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">until a Goodyear deal was struck for this year<\/a>, which awkwardly put it off-kilter with sister category Trans Am where identical machinery is used but Hoosier tyres had remained.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s known that the differences between the Hoosier and Goodyear necessitated substantial set-up variations for competitors crossing over between Trans Am and TA2.<\/p>\n<p>So, why the sudden move?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe two-driver event at QR was so popular and so well-attended with 26 cars that we burned through our stock of Goodyear tyres,\u201d Matt MacKelden, category manager for both TA2 and Trans Am, explained to V8 Sleuth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo we needed to make a decision\u2026 and we have been able to enter into a commercial arrangement with Hoosier moving forward for next year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd as part of that, we have decided we will change for the final two rounds of TA2 to the Hoosier product, the same tyre as we run in Trans Am.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/hoosier_transam1-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-108320\"  \/>A Hoosier tyre. Pic: Supplied<\/p>\n<p>Mitch Dumesny of Hoosier indicated to V8 Sleuth the multi-category arrangement is set to cover season 2027 too.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously it\u2019s great to be able to get everyone back onto the same tyre,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know it was causing quite a bit of confusion for everybody being one series on one and another series on the other, so a lot of competitors are happy it\u2019s back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe tyres are a great fit for the category.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think Hoosier has kind of positioned itself as one of the go-to products in V8-powered categories with Trans Am, TA2, S5000, Touring Car Masters.
