Formula 1 heads east to Baku for this weekend\u2019s Azerbaijan Grand Prix \u2013 and Pirelli have confirmed the tyres that the teams and drivers will have available to them.<\/p>\n
The softest trio of 2025 compounds have been chosen for the ultra-fast street track, with the C6 back as the soft (having been used in Imola, Monaco and Canada), the C5 serving as the medium and the C4 as the hard.<\/p>\n
Drivers will get two sets of the hard tyre (marked white), three sets of the medium tyre (marked yellow), and eight sets of the soft tyre (marked red), as well as access to the green intermediate tyre and the blue full wets, should they be required.<\/p>\n
An extra set of softs is reserved for those who reach Q3 in Qualifying, while all drivers must use at least two different slick compounds during the race, providing the track is dry.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn a street circuit with low levels of grip and wear, bringing the same selection as in 2024 would inevitably have led to a one-stop strategy,\u201d reads Pirelli\u2019s preview. \u201cAt least this way, considering that this year\u2019s range suffers much less from graining, it opens up the possibility of a two-stop strategy.<\/p>\n
\u201cMoreover, it is clear that this year, most recently at Monza, the teams and drivers have become adept at managing the tyres well, so that the race is unlikely to see very different strategies.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlthough it\u2019s a street track, Baku has some very long straights \u2013 where the cars hit very high top speeds \u2013 that place significant vertical loads on the tyres.\u201d<\/p>\n
