TROY, N.Y. (WRGB) \u2014 A striking, new, three-story mural by artist Greg Gossel has been unveiled in downtown Troy, capturing the spirit of community resilience and honoring the city’s rich history.<\/p>\n
The mural, located at one of Troy’s gateways by the Green Island Bridge, was revealed during a press conference hosted by the Arts Center of the Capital Region.<\/p>\n
The artwork, selected through an international call for submissions and curated by Belinda Colon, features a central figure with boxing gloves and upstretched arms, symbolizing hope and perseverance. It pays homage to Troy’s storied boxing tradition. A fiery sunset and the Hudson River flow through the composition, set beneath the Green Island and Waterford bridges. Additional elements include an American flag and poppy to honor veterans, a tattoo referencing Troy’s founding in 1791, and a water wheel in the foreground nodding to the city’s industrial past.<\/p>\n
