NFL teams have turned their attention toward Week 3, with everyone’s first full day of practice (minus the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins, this week’s Thursday night participants) coming on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The New York Jets made the first big headline of the day, with quarterback Justin Fields being ruled out with a concussion<\/a> for Sunday’s game at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Fields suffered the concussion in a Week 2 loss to the Bills.<\/p>\n

The Jets are just one of several teams navigating injuries to their starting quarterback. The Washington Commanders are being cautious with Jayden Daniels and his sprained knee, which he suffered in a loss last week to the Green Bay Packers. Daniels didn’t practice Wednesday, and head coach Dan Quinn said the team will have an update after Friday’s practice.<\/a><\/p>\n

“Jayden had a good rehab session today and threw out on the field,” Quinn said.<\/a><\/p>\n

As for the Minnesota Vikings, they’ll be without starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy as he battles a high ankle sprain, as well as starting running back Aaron Jones,<\/a> who went on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. The Vikings signed running back Cam Akers,<\/a> who has played 18 total games for Minnesota over the past two seasons, to their practice squad to help bolster the RB room.<\/p>\n

The Cincinnati Bengals will be without franchise quarterback Joe Burrow for at least three months with a turf toe injury, and they made a pair of moves to address it on Tuesday, signing veteran QBs Mike White and Sean Clifford to the practice squad. Head coach Zac Taylor did not have a timeline on Burrow’s impending surgery<\/a> on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The final team in danger of missing its starting quarterback this week, the San Francisco 49ers, at least has to feel good about backup Mac Jones’ performance in place of Brock Purdy. Jones threw for 279 yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions in a win over the New Orleans Saints, and he’s in line to start the 49ers’ home opener this week against the 2-0 Arizona Cardinals, though Purdy hasn’t officially been ruled out with a toe injury.<\/p>\n
