Salina Post<\/p>\n

A community health seminar meant to inform the public about the benefits of naturopathic practices, is set to occur in Salina this late September.<\/p>\n

John and Deb Boesen from the Health Liberty Forum, are the co-hosts of this seminar. The Boesen’s purpose for organizing this event is to inform community members about the benefits and cost-effective medical practices, naturopathy provides in holistic medicine. Holistic medicine focuses on treating the whole person by considering the interconnectedness of their physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual well-being, rather than just treating the symptoms of an illness.<\/p>\n

This seminar will occur on Wednesday, September 24 at the Salina Public Library, Prescott room (301 W Elm St) from 6:00 pm – 7:45 pm. The seminar is free and open to the public, with donations.<\/p>\n

The Boesen’s are inviting naturopathic practitioner Dr. Ron Hunninghake MD<\/a>, from Riordan Clinic in Wichita. Dr. Hunninghake\u00a0specializes in the care of people with chronic disease, cancer, nutritional deficiency and mental health. He will be teaching event goers about the ‘Evolution of Naturopathy to Integrative Medicine’ during the seminar.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Naturopathy is a form of holistic medicine that emphasizes the body’s natural healing abilities and uses natural remedies to treat and prevent disease.\u00a0According to WebMD<\/a>, the goal of naturopathic medicine is to treat the whole person — that means mind, body and spirit. It also aims to heal the root causes of an illness — not just stop the symptoms. Naturopathic medicine is used to treat health issues such as allergies, headaches, fertility issues, digestive problems, obesity, hormonal imbalances, chronic pain and chronic fatigue syndrome<\/p>\n

John stated naturopathy throughout history has been ‘suppressed.’ Naturopathy from 1938-1978\u00a0led to the legal and economic suppression and growth of allopathic medicine, fueled by the drug industry, even so far as naturopathic physicians were accused of \u2018dishonest medical practices.\u2019<\/p>\n

John hopes the information brought forth at the seminar will help others be more aware of holistic practices.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlot of the\u00a0holistic practices are coming back into use and we want to share the information with people,\u201d said John.\u00a0\u201cWe want to expand this practice into people\u2019s lives, so they can find help that does not have as many costs or side effects as traditional allopathic medicine does.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that many health professionals have stated they want to ‘restore bodies’ with naturopathic practices.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have access to professionals who are saying we need to restore our bodies health with good information and that we need to keep the predatory medical model from advancing, because it has proven that it does not work,\u201d said Boesen. “We are excited to host Dr. Ron Hunninghake for this seminar.”<\/p>\n
