The musician stood beneath a bright spotlight and moved in time with his dancers and band, who wore head-to-toe blue suits that matched his own.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tByrne\u2019s stop at the Benedum Center for the Performing Arts is the first in an extensive schedule of shows. The tour kickoff opened with Talking Heads\u2019 \u201cHeaven,\u201d before moving into Byrne\u2019s own \u201cEverybody Laughs,\u201d the Talking Heads song \u201cAnd She Was,\u201d and \u201cStranger Overtones,\u201d from his collaborative album with Brian Eno.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cPsycho Killer\u201d appeared towards the end of the set, sandwiched between Byrne\u2019s cover of Paramore\u2019s After Laughter single \u201cHard Times\u201d and Talking Heads\u2019 \u201cLife During Wartime.\u201d The set also included live debuts of the Who Is the Sky? songs \u201cDon\u2019t Be Like That,\u201d \u201cI Met the Buddha at a Downtown Party,\u201d and \u201cMy Apartment Is My Friend.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tByrne\u2019s set is full of Talking Heads songs, as expected, but that\u2019s as much time travel as he\u2019s willing to do. \u201cYou can\u2019t turn the clock back,\u201d he recently told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/david-byrne-talking-heads-reunion-rumors-interview-1235407103\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rolling Stone. <\/a>\u201cWhen you hear music at a certain point in your life, it means a lot. But it doesn\u2019t mean you can go back there and make it happen again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tLast year, he briefly reunited with bassist Tina Weymouth, drummer Chris Frantz, and multi-instrumentalist Jerry Harrison to promote the A24 rerelease of their classic 1984 concert film\u00a0Stop Making Sense. \u201cWe felt more comfortable with one another, but I\u2019m just going to anticipate your next questions,\u201d he added. \u201cI didn\u2019t feel like, \u2018Oh, yeah, let\u2019s go out on tour again.\u2019 Or, \u2018Let\u2019s make another record.\u2019 Musically, I\u2019ve gone to a very different place. And I also felt like there\u2019s been a fair number of reunion records and tours. And some of them were probably pretty good. Not very many. It\u2019s pretty much impossible to recapture where you were at that time in your life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tPlenty of other artists have been performing \u201cPsycho Killer\u201d for years, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/miley-cyrus-talking-heads-psycho-killer-cover-1235022798\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Miley Cyrus<\/a> and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/duran-duran-maneskin-talking-heads-psycho-killer-cover-1234860812\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Duran Duran.<\/a> But given that Talking Heads split up in 1991 and have not performed in public since 2002, during their induction to the Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame, Byrne was the only one able to truly breathe life back into the record. <\/p>\n<p>\t\tTrending Stories<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tEarlier this year, Talking Heads celebrated their 50th anniversary with an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/talking-heads-psycho-killer-video-saoirse-ronan-1235356173\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">official video<\/a> for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/talking-heads-77-reissue-psycho-killer-acoustic-1235104174\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cPsycho Killer,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0the first song they ever wrote as a band.
