More redundancies have rocked Network 10, with as many as five publicity roles cut late yesterday afternoon as part of what\u2019s been labelled a \u201cteam restructure.\u201d<\/p>\n
TV Blackbox understands the impacted roles span across the network\u2019s metro stations nationwide \u2014 a tough blow for what was already a small, tightly-run and hard working publicity team.<\/p>\n
It follows a string of cuts in recent months as parent company Paramount Australia continues grappling with industry headwinds and ongoing uncertainty surrounding its future ownership, just last month several news editors<\/a> in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth were offered relocation packages to Sydney or Melbourne \u2013 or redundancies if they declined. <\/p>\n – Advertisement –<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Most chose the latter, and have since been left job hunting.<\/p>\n An insider, speaking to TV Blackbox on the condition of anonymity, didn\u2019t hold back about the latest round of redundancies \u2014 laying blame squarely at the feet of 10\u2019s boss Beverley McGarvey:<\/p>\n \u201cThe redundancies are a kick in the guts to the people who actually kept 10 afloat. Bev should\u2019ve been the first to go.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cUnder her leadership, the network has completely lost its way \u2013 ratings have crashed, programming has flopped, and trust in management is at an all-time low.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cKeeping her while cutting hardworking staff is not just tone-deaf \u2013 it\u2019s pathetic.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s worth noting that 10 isn\u2019t the only network making quiet cuts. TV Blackbox understands other local broadcasters have also made behind-the-scenes redundancies within publicity departments in recent months, though these have largely flown under the radar.<\/p>\n This latest shake-up also comes just weeks after 10 launched<\/a> its new six-night-a-week current affairs gamble 10 News+, which replaced long-running panel show The Project<\/a>.
