Just when we thought it was all over, Jenny Han blesses fans with the news we’re getting a ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ movie.

The news of the movie, which will be a continuation of the wildly successful TV series was revealed just hours after the season three finale left us all reeling.

“The Summer I Turned Pretty has struck a chord with audiences everywhere, creating moments of joy, nostalgia, and connection that have made it a global sensation,” said Courtenay Valenti, head of film, streaming and theatrical at Amazon MGM Studios.

The finale seemingly came to a neat conclusion for all our Cousins Beach favourites. Belly and Conrad ended up together after a romantic reunion in Paris (as it should be), Taylor and Steven were moving to California and Jeremiah found happiness as an influencer chef and budding romance with Denise.

It was all wrapped up in a neat bow. Too neat. So what will the movie be about?

What Will The Summer I Turned Pretty Movie Be About?

According to Amazon, the “story details are still under wraps” but Jenny Han did give us a hint.

Given all three of Han’s books on which the series is based have already played out in the show, we’re heading into unknown territory (sort of).

Many fans had lamented that they wanted to see more of Conrad and Belly’s relationship now they’re finally together. Given the couple only reunited in the final episode, it seems Han has heard these cries and is willing to provide us with the extra does of Connie baby we all need and, frankly, deserve.

Us conrad fans went through an ordeal to get our happy ending, and we want to savour it a little longer.

Following the announcement at the Paris premiere, Han teased at what’s to come in the movie.

“There is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due,” she said.

The next natural step and “big milestone” in Belly and Conrad’s story would naturally be a wedding.

There was speculation aplenty during season three Belly would wed Conrad instead of her then-fiancé, Jere. With so much build up to the idea of a Bonrad wedding, it feels like the ideal way to extend the franchise into a film.

When Will The Summer I Turned Pretty Movie Come Out?

Any confirmation of when The Summer I Turned Pretty movie will be released is yet to be announced. Check back here for details as they drop.

What we do know is that it will drop on Amazon Prime Video.
