His ice time has steadily increased, giving him valuable opportunities to sharpen his defensive skills. At 22, he understands that staying in Russia for now allows him to take on greater responsibilities than he might get in Montreal or Laval. This extended role is vital for his development.During the Canadiens’ development camp this summer, Konyushkov gained a glimpse of what life in North America could look like. He enjoyed the atmosphere but acknowledged that his contract with Torpedo keeps him in the KHL until the end of the 2026–27 season. Until then, his goal is to help his club contend for a championship.

Bogdan Konyushkov’s long-term NHL dream with the Montreal Canadiens

Despite signing his extension with Torpedo, Konyushkov has never hidden his ambition to play for Montreal. He told Russian media that reaching the NHL remains his ultimate goal. However, he balances this with a practical outlook. His family’s happiness and the Canadiens’ influence on his future are both things he considers carefully before making any career moves.Fans in Montreal will need patience. The organization has a crowded blue line, and by the time Konyushkov arrives, he could be more polished and ready to compete for a full-time role. If all goes as planned, he will be free to make the transition at the conclusion of the 2026–27 campaign.

Ivan Demidov’s influence on Bogdan Konyushkov’s development

At the Canadiens’ development camp, Konyushkov had the chance to spend time with fellow Russian prospect Ivan Demidov. What impressed him most wasn’t just Demidov’s talent but his dedication. He recalled how Demidov trained on the ice twice a day.
