(Geoff Aquino)<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was gasping, begging for air.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The baby looked like a little mummy really, it was severely entangled,&#8221; Aquino said.<\/p>\n<p>After struggling for hours and dragging the knotted netting with them, a shark control program contractor was sent out to free the pair.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/e30986cc-a394-4fe5-8465-fc2ed295ed5c.jpeg\"   alt=\"Drone operator Geoff Aquino rushed down to Noosa Beach yesterday.\"\/>Drone operator Geoff Aquino rushed down to Noosa Beach yesterday. (Geoff Aquino)<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They&#8217;ve expended a lot of energy and been under a lot of stress,&#8221; Envoy Foundation co-founder and director Andre Borell said.<\/p>\n<p>The incident has reignited debate on whether shark nets should be pulled from the state&#8217;s coastline.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s technology out there now that allows us to co-exist, we just don&#8217;t use it in Queensland,&#8221; Borell said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Videos have emerged of a humpback whale duo trapped in shark nets off Queensland&#8216;s Sunshine Coast.
