(SEPT 19)\u00a0Sequita Hemingway (Ng\u0101ti T\u016bwharetoa &
\nNg\u0101i T\u016bhoe) will fight for the historical vacant WIBA World Heavyweight title on
\n8th of November at Netball Manurewa in Auckland against the young Cook Island
\nNew Zealander Allahna Tuteru.<\/p>\n
Hemingway finally gets her world title shot after a hard working year in 2024.
\nIn her career she has won the New Zealand national Heavyweight title in two
\ncommissioning bodies, which only very few boxers can say including Lani Daniels,
\nAlrie Meliesea, Geovana Peres and Mea Motu. One thing they all have in common is
\nthey have all fought for a world title. Now Hemingway will get her own world
\ntitle opportunity.<\/p>\n

\nHemingway has 10 fights in her career and is
\ncurrently ranked 4th in the world in the heavyweight division on Boxrec. In her
\ncareer, she has fought two world champions and world title contender including
\ntwo division world champion Lani Daniels twice, WBA World Light Heavyweight
\nchampion Che Kenneally twice and IBF World heavyweight title contender Alrie
\nMeleisea twice, beating Alrie once.<\/p>\n
Hemingway is truly a warhorse of boxing. She has never been knocked out, let
\nalone knockdown, and her worth ethic during training and in the ring is
\ntremendous. If Hemingway wins, she will become the first ever person who started
\nin professional Rugby Union to win a world boxing title on any level.<\/p>\n
Hemingway will be taking on the young boxer Allahna Tuteru. Tuteru is the
\ndaughter of two boxers, Ange Davis who fought for the New Zealand title in 2016
\nand Terry Tuteru who fought Joseph Parker in 2012.<\/p>\n
Tuteru made her debut in April this year. She fights in both boxing, kickboxing
\nand Muay Thai. She aims to become the youngest World Heavyweight champion boxer
\nin history, as well as the first ever cook island world champion. Her first
\nfight was against Maria Hunt, which Tuteru won by Unanimous decision.<\/p>\n
Tuteru is taking a major risk taking this fight so early on in her career.
\nEspecially since she is currently ranked 10th, and going against Hemingway who
\nis ranked 4th. However, she is confident that she can win this fight and out box
\nher opponent.<\/p>\n
The WIBA world title is a historical title that’s been around since 1999. Before
\nthe major four organisations of boxing (WBA, WBO, IBF, WBC) were doing women’s
\nworld titles, the WIBA was the world title for the women’s division. Many boxers
\nuse this title as a stepping stone, before fighting for the major four world
\ntitles.<\/p>\n
There have only been three WIBA world champions in New Zealand history including
\nGentiane Lupi in 2015, Cherneka Johnson in 2018 and Emma Nesbitt in 2025.
\nLegendary Daniella Smith and two division Australian champion, New Zealand born
\nNicila Costello have both fought for the title but never won. <\/p>\n
Many legends have won the title including Muhammad Ali Daughter Laila Ali, UFC
\nlegend Holly Holm, two-time World champion from Australia Susie Ramadan, Boxing
\nlegend Tori Nelson, Boxing legend Vonda Ward, Undisputed world champion Amanda
