Hollywood responds to Jimmy Kimmel suspension<\/a><\/p>\nHe put his hazard lights on, cautiously stepped out of his car and stopped traffic to pick the snake up.<\/p>\n
Lockie then took the snake over to nearby bushland and set it loose into the shrubs.\ufeff<\/p>\n
\ufeff”Honestly, it was pretty surprising seeing such a large snake,” he said.<\/p>\n
“We see carpet pythons here on the sunny coast all the time, it’s quite common here – but this guy was enormous.”<\/p>\n
The giant python wasn’t in the lane Lockie was driving in, but he could still see it clearly, it was that big.<\/p>\n
“It would be just horrific to see such an old individual killed on the road.,” he said.<\/p>\n
Living on the Sunshine Coast, Lockie said it wouldn’t have been that big a surprise to see a large snake mosying across the road in front of your car.<\/p>\n

Lockie and his daughter Banksia caught up with Today. (Today)<\/p>\n
And thankfully, he said most people would make the effort to go around to avoid hitting it.<\/p>\n
Lockie is a trained wildlife conservationist, so he was comfortable getting out of his car to help the snake.<\/p>\n
But for anyone else, he recommends contacting a snakecatcher – no matter where you come across the animal.\ufeff<\/p>\n
“When it’s on the road, you need to be obviously just a little bit more careful with oncoming traffic, you don’t want to put yourself in danger,” he said.<\/p>\n
“So just putting your hazards on, letting everyone know that there’s something on the road and pulling over safely – but if you can kind of stop traffic and just shoo it off, it’s fantastic.\ufeff”<\/p>\n
