{"id":155055,"date":"2025-09-19T20:05:17","date_gmt":"2025-09-19T20:05:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/155055\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T20:05:17","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T20:05:17","slug":"aflw-great-daisy-pearce-aiming-to-take-down-former-club-demons-with-eagles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/155055\/","title":{"rendered":"AFLW great Daisy Pearce aiming to take down former club Demons with Eagles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">West Coast coach Daisy Pearce has launched a playful dig at Melbourne as she prepares to front up against the club she captained to AFLW premiership glory.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Pearce led the Demons to the 2022 flag during her decorated playing career.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Her success has continued into the coaching realm, with Pearce guiding West Coast to a club-best four wins last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The Eagles have posted three victories from five matches this season to sit in seventh place on the ladder.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Pearce did not have the chance to coach against Melbourne last year but is relishing her opportunity on Sunday when the Eagles travel to Casey Fields.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Second-placed Melbourne, which has a 4-1 win-loss record, is still considered a flag favourite, despite a shock two-point loss to Port Adelaide last week.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2025-09-18\/aflw-collingwood-magpies-round-six-hawthorn\/105785982\" data-component=\"FullBleedLink\" class=\"RelatedCard_link__rsgR9 FullBleedLink_root__lTw_U interactive_focusContext__yRhc_ interactive_defaults__AKxUU FullBleedLink_showVisited__g3Xvz\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Collingwood is righting the ship this AFLW season<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP RelatedCard_synopsis__cFwMW Typography_sizeMobile14__u7TGe Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">A year after finishing dead last in the AFLW, the Magpies have started making moves up the ladder thanks to a new approach at both ends of the field.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The Demons have built a reputation for being perennial flag contenders, while the Eagles are considered a rising power under Pearce&#8217;s leadership.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Eagles forward Ella Roberts said having Pearce on board meant West Coast would know some of Melbourne&#8217;s &#8220;secrets&#8221; heading into Sunday&#8217;s match.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Pearce could not help herself when asked about what those secrets were on Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;[The Demons] play a bit like us for some reason.
