Preseason play begins on Oct. 6 before the Rockets and defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder play the NBA&#8217;s first 2025-26 regular season matchup on Oct. 21.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">The Rockets won 52 games last year and earned the Western Conference&#8217;s No. 2 seed before falling in seven games to the Golden State Warriors. It was an impressive leap up the standings after going 41-41 and missing the playoffs the year before.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">They&#8217;re looking to take another big step this year with the 37-year-old Durant, a 15-time All-Star and four-time scoring champion who averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists last season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">Houston returns much of its talent from last year, including All-Star big man Alperen \u015eeng\u00fcn and NBA All-Defensive First Teamer Amen Thompson.
