Canelo Alvarez has been offered an exact date for a return to the ring off the back of his recent title loss, however, the callout comes from a sizable threat.<\/p>\n

Suffering just his third career loss earlier this month, Canelo Alvarez<\/a> saw his spectacular run at super middleweight come to an end at the hands of the unbeaten Terence Crawford<\/a> in the pair\u2019s undisputed title fight.<\/p>\n

And adding to just prior defeats at both the middleweight and light heavyweight limits against Floyd Mayweather<\/a> and Dmitry Bivol, the Mexican is expected to embark on a career retirement tour next.<\/p>\n

One such fight long-mooted for Canelo would see him take on a certain unbeaten star, who has now tipped himself as the \u201cfuture\u201d of the super middleweight ranks.<\/p>\n

Fighting twice on Cinco de Mayo during his illustrious career in the ring, Canelo has now been offered the opportunity to return to combat during the opening weekend of next May.<\/p>\n

And against a potential future champion who has been touted to even offer Crawford a stern challenge<\/a> in a future fight, Canelo is seemingly in the crosshairs of the unbeaten Slough finisher Hamzah Sheeraz.<\/p>\n

\u201cFireworks \u2014 well, first, I need to get the fight,\u201d Sheeraz told IFL TV of a potential fight with Canelo. \u201cSo, God willing, we get it.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe in May, Cinco de Mayo weekend, \u2019cause I don\u2019t think he\u2019ll be fighting anytime soon,\u201d Sheeraz explained. \u201cBut, yeah, fireworks \u2014 and we\u2019ll see the future of the 168 [pounds] come through. Hopefully, before that, I get to fight for a world title or something like that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Canelo Alvarez\u2019s past success during Cinco de Mayo<\/p>\n

Competing twice in championship outings during Cinco de Mayo weekend in the past, in 2019 and just last year, the Jalisco star headlined two high-profile cards during his middleweight and super middleweight title reigns.<\/p>\n

First, Canelo would score a unanimous decision win over Daniel Jacobs over the course of 12 rounds six years ago, defeating the resurgent New York puncher.<\/p>\n
