{"id":157074,"date":"2025-09-20T17:59:10","date_gmt":"2025-09-20T17:59:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/157074\/"},"modified":"2025-09-20T17:59:10","modified_gmt":"2025-09-20T17:59:10","slug":"pained-by-back-injury-danielle-collins-updates-health-status-tennis-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/157074\/","title":{"rendered":"Pained by Back Injury, Danielle Collins Updates Health Status \u2013 Tennis Now"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Richard Pagliaro | Sunday, September 14, 2025<br \/>Photo credit: Marco Bertorelli\/Getty<\/p>\n<p>Danielle Collins\u2019 2025 campaign is over, but the pain persists.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennisexpress.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\" noreferrer noopener nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" data-lazyloaded=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"610\" height=\"130\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/1757858304_140_september-savings-2025-610x130-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-56179\"  data-\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The 2024 Miami Open and Charleston champion, who has been battling a back injury, shared she\u2019s had to make recent visits to the hospital and is continuing her recovery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has been the absolute worst being a million miles away from home, feeling sick, my back just absolutely killing me, and being up all hours of the night,\u201d Collins posted on Instagram. \u201cI don\u2019t know what I would have done without my friends\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/isabeau_ruiter\/?hl=en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">@isabeau_ruiter<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/menno_de_groot\/?hl=en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">@menno_de_groot<\/a>\u00a0if they weren\u2019t there to help take care of me the last few days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom taking me to the hospital, driving me all over to get in with the right doctor, making me food, bringing me tea, laying in the living room with me while watching just like that, going on little walks with me, and being so understanding when I\u2019d tell them I need to lay flat again or go to the car to put the seat warmer on my back. Having amazing friends makes the good days greater and the bad days better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Collins, who has both endometriosis and rheumatoid arthritis, has been suffering from a herniated disc in her back. The injury impacted her serve and left Collins unable to carry her racquet bag off court following her Cincinnati Open loss to friend Taylor Townsend last month. Townsend carried Collins\u2019 bag for her after the match ended.<\/p>\n<p>The 31-year-old Floridian suffered a 6-2, 6-0 loss Romanian Jaqueline Cristian in last month\u2019s US Open first round.
