Lydia Plath<\/a> and Zac Wyse<\/a> are opening up about their decision to jump into marriage<\/a> shortly after meeting.\n<\/p>\n In the season 7 premiere of Welcome to Plathville, Lydia\u2019s dad, Barry Plath<\/a>, quickly gave his blessing when Zac asked for her hand in marriage. While the pair had only known each other for three months at the time, Zac revealed that they had no intention of slowing down when it came to making things official.\n<\/p>\n \u201cSo I’m planning on proposing in two weeks,” Zac shared. \u201cActually, the wedding day is gonna be in three months.”\n<\/p>\n \u201cAre you crazy?\u201d Barry declared, to which Zac quipped, \u201cMaybe a little.\u201d\n<\/p>\n Zac Wyse and Barry Plath on ‘Welcome to Plathville’.<\/p>\n TLC<\/p>\n Admitting that it was \u201creally shocking\u201d to hear this news, Barry wondered about the reasoning behind \u201cthe accelerated timeline.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cLydia has a plan to go to Germany, and she wanted to go on this mission trip,\u201d Zac explained. \u201cAnd so, one, I wanted to go, and I brought it up to her, and then she was like, \u2018Yeah, you’re going.\u2019 It was more an idea on my side, and she was like, \u2018I\u2019d absolutely love for you to go.\u2019\u201d\n<\/p>\n \u201cThen we kind of got to the conversation of, \u2018Okay, are we going to Germany married or engaged?\u2019\u201d he continued. \u201cAnd as we asked that question, everything kind of came together to happen before we went to Germany.\u201d\n<\/p>\n The family patriarch called the plan \u201cmore than a whirlwind\u201d but said he understood where the young couple was coming from because of his own past with his now ex-wife (and Lydia’s mother), Kim Plath<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n \u201cThis is a huge decision \u2014 till death do we part \u2014 that’s major,\u201d he acknowledged, adding, \u201cIn my mind, I’m like, well, there might be some value in taking more time, but I was in that same boat. Kim and I were together a little over three months before getting engaged, and so I completely can empathize with their timeline.\u201d\n<\/p>\n When Zac went to tell Lydia that Barry approved, she confessed that she was \u201crelieved\u201d to know he was supportive of their relationship. <\/p>\n \u201cIt gives me a ton of peace knowing that my dad has peace as well,\u201d she said.\n<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m very proud of you,\u201d Barry told his daughter as he reached for a hug. \u201cI’m just really excited. My little girl, she’s all grown up.\u201d\n<\/p>\n Moments later, Lydia\u2019s older brother Ethan Plath<\/a> arrived, and he wasn\u2019t as enthusiastic to hear that his sister was going to be tying the knot with someone she had been dating for only six months on the wedding day.\n<\/p>\n \u201cIt doesn’t make sense,\u201d he said in his confessional. \u201cI get that he makes her happy, that\u2019s obvious, but it is pretty quick.\u201d\n<\/p>\n Ethan joked that Zac and Lydia were having “a shotgun wedding.” <\/p>\n After Lydia searched the meaning of “shotgun wedding” online, she clarified that she was not pregnant or being forced to get married and went on to reminisce over how the pair met.\n<\/p>\n Zac Wyse and Lydia Plath.<\/p>\n TLC<\/p>\n \u201cI was in Colorado, went to this church, got invited to Young Adults and then we ended up next to each other,\u201d she recalled.\n<\/p>\n \u201cAnd then I asked you out,\u201d Zac chimed in as Lydia continued. \u201cSo we went hiking, and then went hiking again.\u201d\n<\/p>\n \u201cYou’re above 13,000 feet for like seven hours, and so that kind of started our journey,\u201d he laughed.\n<\/p>\n The pair ultimately got married in February in a ceremony at the Plath family farm in Georgia, where they shared their first-ever kiss. <\/p>\n
