For generations, Scitech has been a place WA kids can go learn about how the world around them works.<\/p>\n

Now, for the first time in 37 years the beloved institution has undergone a major transformation.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, Scitech unveiled 17 new exhibits as part of the Here, There and Everywhere gallery, just in time for the school holidays.<\/p>\n

The new permanent interactive displays invite visitors to learn about how science and technology are solving challenges in our homes, our community and around the world.<\/p>\n

Scitech chief executive John Chappell said he hoped the new exhibition would inspire the next generation to become curious about science.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe new generation is very tech savvy, and this is a much more tech savvy type exhibition,\u201d Mr Chappell said.<\/p>\n

Mr Chappell sat alongside Xanthe Smith as she learnt how to use one of the new displays<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very cool to see how much has changed,\u201d Xanthe said<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been talking about coming here so much at school, now I can tell all my friends I had so much fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nevaeh Potter and Lilly Pudsey were some of the first WA kids to check out a new exhibition about how viruses work.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe looked at COVID-19 and learned it\u2019s best to have the vaccination because if you didn\u2019t more people would get sick,\u201d Nevaeh said.<\/p>\n

Scitech content producer Kimberley Phoon said she hoped Scitech could continue to remain a core memory for future generations.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone has a SciTech Memory, if you grew up in WA. We\u2019re hoping the new memories we form will help people really appreciate the science that\u2019s going on around them, maybe think a little deeper,\u201d Ms Phoon said.<\/p>\n

Grace Drummond, Frankie and Lucy Robinson spent time in the Banksia Woodlands exhibition learning about the Noongar Seasons.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s lots of beautiful projections and features in there and they\u2019re all interactive as well,\u201d Ms Phoon said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a voiceover by Dr Noel Nannup helping to guide those observations and share how traditional owners and Noongar people were identifying these seasons.\u201d<\/p>\n
