The Hope College men’s tennis team hosted Goshen College on Saturday at the VandePoel-Heeringa Stadium Courts and fell, 6-1.<\/p>\n
Sophomore Blake Smith<\/a> (Bloomfield Hills, Michigan \/ Birmingham Seaholm HS) earned Hope’s lone point with a hard-fought, three-set win at No. 6 singles, edging\u00a0Goshen’s Joaquin Luque, 7-6 (4), 0-6, 1-0 (10-3).<\/p>\n At No. 1 doubles, junior Cooper Nugent<\/a> (Rochester Hills, Michigan \/ Rochester Adams) and junior Alec Maynard<\/a> (Northville, Michigan \/ Detroit Catholic Central) fell to Filippo Gallo and Timo Novak, 7-5.\u00a0<\/p>\n The No. 2 doubles pairing of sophomore Hank Mast<\/a> (Kansas City, Missouri \/ Liberty) and junior Ned Curley<\/a> (Plymouth, Michigan \/ Detroit Catholic Central)\u00a0lost to Iago Cicui and Garrett Stoltzfus, 6-1.\u00a0<\/p>\n Paulo Lopez and Luque of Goshen defeated Paul Schneider<\/a> and sophomore Elliot Dozeman<\/a> (Holland, Michigan \/ West Ottawa) at No. 3 doubles, 6-4.\u00a0<\/p>\n At No. 1 singles Curley fell to Iago, 6-4, 6-0.\u00a0<\/p>\n At No. 2 singles, Schneider lost to Novak, 6-2, 6-3.\u00a0<\/p>\n At No. 3 singles, Dozeman fell to Gallo, 6-0, 7-5.\u00a0<\/p>\n
