Much like his seriously impressive watch collection, Pierce Brosnan is a man with range. <\/p>\n

Where others might let a high-profile tenure as James Bond<\/a> define them \u2013 the James Bond, for those of a certain generation \u2013 the retired 007 has reinvented himself with everything from MobLand<\/a> to The Thursday Murder Club, while still finding time to acknowledge his cinematic roots with something like Black Bag<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The same underlying philosophy has apparently shaped his taste in watches: beyond the well-documented relationship with Omega (Brosnan was the first Bond to rock a Seamaster on screen with 1995\u2019s GoldenEye), he owns some genuinely interesting timepieces. The kind you\u2019d never expect to see on the wrist of an everyday Hollywood A-lister.<\/p>\n

Omega Seamaster Professional 300M<\/p>\n

The Omega Seamaster is a natural place to start. Despite having last appeared on screen as James Bond all the way back in 2002 for Die Another Day, he\u2019s been spotted wearing a Seamaster as recently as 2017 \u2013 a ringing endorsement for the famous dive watch. <\/p>\n

You should be able to find his original quartz-powered model for around $3,000.<\/p>\n

Omega Museum Collection Edition 2001<\/p>\n

The Seamaster isn\u2019t the only Omega that Brosnan has been spotted wearing \u2013 the Irish actor regularly opts for the Omega Museum Collection Edition 2001. <\/p>\n

Inspired by an Omega pilot\u2019s watch from 1938, it\u2019s powered by the automatic chronometer calibre 2200 and features a stainless steel case that measures 40.2mm in diameter. <\/p>\n

Prices today vary, but it\u2019ll typically set you back around $4,000.<\/p>\n

The first deep cut we\u2019ll take a look at is this rare Movado Moonphase Chronograph that Brosnan wore at the 14th Annual NATO\/ShoWest Convention\u00a0in 1988. It\u2019s so unusual that if you\u2019re looking for the exact model today, you\u2019ll be lucky to find a single example up for sale.<\/p>\n

This Movado is powered by the ETA 7758 calibre movement, features a case that measures 40.5mm in diameter and 13mm in thickness, and has a bracelet that oozes 80s style with a single row of gold links complementing the gold bezel. <\/p>\n

Prices for this one range due to its rarity, but if you can find one, expect to pay between $2,500 and $3,000.<\/p>\n

Cartier Panth\u00e8re<\/p>\n

Moving onto Cartier \u2013 Brosnan\u2019s other most favoured brand from the late 1980s until the early 2000s \u2013 he famously wore a Cartier Panth\u00e8re while portraying the dapper proto-Bond: Remington Steele. If you needed any proof that the Panth\u00e8re is a watch that men should wear (especially in two-tone), this is it.<\/p>\n

The same example worn by Brosnan, with three bracelet links in gold, starts around $10,000 today. <\/p>\n

Cartier Pasha de Cartier<\/p>\n

Another Cartier model Brosnan loved to wear is the Pasha de Cartier, spotted on his wrist regularly during the early 90s. <\/p>\n

The legend of the Pasha dates back to the early 1930s when the Pasha of Marrakesh, Thami El Glaoui, ordered a bespoke watch that had a degree of waterproofness (a rarity at the time).<\/p>\n

While Thami El Glaoui\u2019s example is understood to have been a one-off timepiece, the Pasha de Cartier officially became a part of the brand\u2019s catalogue in 1985 thanks to designer Gerald Genta, who created the watch for Cartier as they looked to compete in the growing category of sports watches.<\/p>\n

While Brosnan\u2019s original Pasha de Cartier is relatively hard to find \u2013 complete with a magnifier over the date and an engraved bezel \u2013 an example sold via Brandizzi for \u20ac6,000 (AU$10,700). For a brand-new modern example in yellow gold, expect to pay upwards of $36,000<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ebel Voyager Worldtime<\/p>\n

A watch that\u2019s starting to get some recognition within collectors\u2019 circles (and my favourite watch from Pierce Brosnan\u2019s watch collection) is the Ebel Voyager Worldtime. <\/p>\n

Ebel isn\u2019t a widely known watchmaker, but it produced timepieces for Cartier in the 1970s and was owned by LVMH until the early 2000s \u2013 the same period it produced this fantastic 40mm worldtime watch. Powered by the automatic Ebel Calibre 124, in addition to being a worldtimer, it also has a GMT and date function, making it a perfect travel watch.<\/p>\n

According to the dealer Rare Wrist, its original RRP was US$4,200. There\u2019s an example of what appears to be the identical reference Brosnan owned (on a leather strap, not a bracelet) currently up for sale, with a price tag of $5,459.<\/p>\n

Heuer 1000 Diver Ref. 980.026<\/p>\n

Another extremely cool watch owned by Brosnan is the fully black PVD-coated Heuer 1000 Diver Ref. 980.026L. <\/p>\n

If you\u2019re wondering where the TAG on the dial is, this watch was born before Heuer merged with the Techniques d\u2019Avant Garde (TAG) Group in 1985, which is interesting given the photo of Brosnan wearing it was taken in 1991 \u2013 suggesting he owned it for several years. The watch remained in production following the merger, with examples flaunting the adapted TAG Heuer logo on the dial<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Measuring 40mm in diameter and powered by the quartz Heuer-signed Swiss ESA movement, the example in the image above was listed for sale by Heuer 1000 Diver for US$1,200 (AU$1,800). A bargain if you ask me.<\/p>\n

Bulgari Diagono Scuba Chronograph SC38S<\/p>\n

The Bulgari Diagono Scuba collection was white hot in the mid-90s, perhaps most famously on the wrist of Al Pacino\u00a0in the classic heist film Heat<\/a>. While Brosnan owned a slightly different reference to the one worn by Pacino, it\u2019s the definition of 90s sports chic with a 38mm case diameter and paired with that famous articulated Bulgari rubber strap that remains in production today.<\/p>\n

The same reference owned by Brosnan was sold by Bonanno Roma for \u20ac3,500 (AU$6,200).<\/p>\n

Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 Power Reserve<\/p>\n

Brosnan\u2019s favourite watch \u2013 his choice for almost every red carpet event<\/a> over the last few years \u2013 is undoubtedly the Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 Power Reserve. During an interview with\u00a0GQ<\/a>, he explained he purchased the watch while filming\u00a0Laws of Attraction\u00a0in New York circa 2003:<\/p>\n

\u201cI bought it, I came out of the store, [and] my knees were shaking [because of] how much money I\u2019d just dropped.\u201d<\/p>\n

Considering Brosnan has owned it for over two decades, and it\u2019s still getting more wrist time than any other watch he\u2019s ever had, it says something about his taste in timepieces. Elegant and understated, while still delivering plenty of wrist presence, it\u2019s a watch that will attract plenty of attention at auction if Brosnan ever decides to part with it. <\/p>\n

The same reference was sold by Prestige Time for US$23,900 (AU$36,200).<\/p>\n
