{"id":161053,"date":"2025-09-22T12:50:08","date_gmt":"2025-09-22T12:50:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/161053\/"},"modified":"2025-09-22T12:50:08","modified_gmt":"2025-09-22T12:50:08","slug":"emma-raducanu-causes-concern-after-what-she-told-fans-following-her-practice-at-the-china-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/161053\/","title":{"rendered":"Emma Raducanu causes concern after what she told fans following her practice at the China Open"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Emma Raducanu may have faced a setback ahead of her debut appearance at the China Open this year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/emma-raducanu-reveals-reason-why-she-really-withdrew-from-britains-bjk-cup-team\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Raducanu withdrew from Great Britain\u2019s Billie Jean King Cup team<\/a> and elected to play at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/korea-open\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Korea Open<\/a> instead.<\/p>\n<p>This decision split opinion, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/emma-raducanu-states-how-things-are-going-with-her-new-coach-so-far-ahead-of-the-us-open-i-need-more-time\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Raducanu wanted to spend more time with new coach Francisco Roig<\/a> before the end of the 2025 season.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/emma-raducanu\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Raducanu<\/a> also has her eyes set on being seeded at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/australian-open\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Australian Open<\/a> next year, but she lost in the second round of the Korea Open and now appears to have suffered another setback.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/GettyImages-2236086120-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Emma Raducanu of Great Britain returns a shot against Barbora Krejcikova of Czechia in the women's singles round of 16 match during day four of the Korea Open Tennis Championship 2025 presented by Motiva at Seoul Olympic Park Tennis Center.\" \/>Photo by Han Myung-Gu\/Getty ImagesEmma Raducanu appears to be struggling physically ahead of China Open<\/p>\n<p>Raducanu suffered a heartbreaking loss in her second round match at the Korea Open, losing to two-time Grand Slam champion <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/barbora-krejcikova\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Barbora Krejcikova<\/a>, despite having three match points.<\/p>\n<p>The Briton is now looking ahead to making her first appearance at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/china-open\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">China Open<\/a>, but Raducanu was spotted looking uncomfortable when practicing.<\/p>\n<p>Watched on by fans ahead of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/wta\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">WTA<\/a> 1000 tournament, Raducanu apparently appeared uncomfortable and was touching the side of her body, seemingly showing discomfort.<\/p>\n<p>Raducanu was also unable to complete her practice session and reportedly told fans that she was not feeling very well before leaving the court.<\/p>\n<p>This is a concern for Raducanu, who was also forced to miss a lot of the Asian swing last year due to a foot problem.<\/p>\n<p>The positive news for the 2021 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/us-open\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">US Open<\/a> champion is that she will be seeded for the China Open, and therefore has a few more days to prepare and recover from any issues as she receives an automatic bye to the second round.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Emma Raducanu practised at the China Open today.
