Maternity leave<\/a> usually marks a mental escape from work, but that won’t exactly be the case for L\ufeffaura Byrne<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The radio host will welcome her third child \ufeffin the coming days, and her replacement on KIIS FM’s The Pick Up is close to home, to say the least. It’s… her husband, Matty J<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The news was announced on air this afternoon, with Byrne joking they had “dragged it out long enough”.<\/p>\n

“\ufeffIt’s so good to be here,” Matty J, aka Matty Johnson, declared as he joined his wife and her co-host Brittany Hockley in the studio.<\/p>\n

“Laura, get out the door. This is my place now!”\ufeff<\/p>\n

“We did keep it as close to home as humanly possible. We decided just to get my husband to fill in,” Byrne continued.\ufeff<\/p>\n

“They did ask if we could all do a chemistry test … I was like, ‘I am married to the man. I think we have some chemistry’.”<\/p>\n

Discussing her husband’s start date, Byrne told listeners their third daughter could arrive as early as Tuesday next week.\ufeff<\/p>\n

“\ufeffI think I’m getting induced. We can’t be sure, it could happen in the next few days,” she said, adding that Johnson “keeps asking” for a specific date.<\/p>\n

“I was like, ‘It’s dependent on the hospital’, but he keeps booking things on days and I was like, you know, ‘You have to keep three days free.'”<\/p>\n

Johnson joked, “I don’t need your life story, I just need to know what date I’m going to start.”<\/p>\n

The Two Doting Dads co-host will, in fact, start in the role next Monday, October 6.<\/p>\n

Byrne and Johnson, who met on The Bachelor in \ufeff2017, married in November 2022 and have two daughters, Marlie-Mae and Lola.<\/p>\n

In April, the couple announced they were expecting their third child.<\/p>\n

Byrne announced the news on Life Uncut, the popular podcast she also co-hosts with Hockley, a fellow The Bachelor alumnus.<\/p>\n

“And it turns out, we’re having baby number three!”<\/p>\n

Byrne and Johnson have since revealed the baby is a girl and will be named Poppy.<\/p>\n
