Following positive critic reviews<\/a> and some less positive opinions on the game’s performance<\/a>, we’re seeing some early player and sales data for Borderlands 4<\/a> across all platforms – and the outlook is pretty good for publisher Take-Two and developer Gearbox Software.<\/p>\n

According to Alinea Analytics figures from GamesIndustry.biz<\/a>, the new Xbox shooter has brought in more than 2.5 million players across all platforms so far. Given that Borderlands 4 isn’t available in any subscription service right now, it stands to reason that the full-priced sales figure is about that amount as well, then.<\/p>\n

This player number figure has resulted in revenues of more than $150 million for Take-Two, with $80 million of that coming from Steam alone. Valve’s PC platform has also managed more than 300,000 concurrent Borderlands 4 players since launch – that record<\/a> was achieved the weekend following the game’s release.<\/p>\n

It seems that Borderlands 4 is doing pretty well so far then, even with those console and PC performance issues we mentioned up at the top. It had previously been six years since Borderlands 3<\/a> in 2019, likely creating considerable demand for this year’s sequel. Here’s hoping the team continues to patch the game up and that players have a smoother experience in the coming weeks and months after launch.<\/p>\n
