Taylor Fritz enjoyed an incredible Laver Cup campaign for Team World, becoming the first player in history to earn two top-five wins in a single edition of the event. <\/p>\n

After a loss in his opening doubles match, Fritz bounced back on day two<\/a> and defeated world number one Carlos Alcaraz<\/a> in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.<\/p>\n

He followed his triumph up with a victory in the decisive match on the final day, beating Alexander Zverev<\/a> to seal a third Laver Cup in four years for Team World.<\/p>\n

The American capped off a strong week for Andre Agassi<\/a>\u2018s side, who emerged victorious by 15 points to nine.<\/p>\n

Team World\u2019s title was decided largely by their sweep on day two, in which Fritz<\/a> came out on top against Alcaraz.<\/p>\n

Reacting to his compatriot\u2019s performance against the Spaniard at a \u2018Served Live\u2019 event, former US Open champion Andy Roddick<\/a> said: \u201cListen, I\u2019ve been on record many, many times. Taylor Fritz is not scared to go out there and take it on the chin.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe will lay it on the line every time. I guarantee you he was the first person to raise his hand and say, \u2018I want a piece of Carlos. I haven\u2019t beaten him yet\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cSame thing when he lost to Novak at the US Open. He goes, \u2018This is gonna be the day\u2019. The guy has a winner mentality. He gets up, he\u2019ll lose on a Sunday and he is back to work on the next Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u201c[He is an] absolute gym rat. A great attitude. I didn\u2019t have this \u2013 he thinks he\u2019s going to win the next match he plays every single time. He says it, and I believe him. There are some people that say where you don\u2019t believe them.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, Andre [Agassi] talked the other day. He dealt from a place of insecurity mixed with ego. I think I did the same thing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat insecurity doesn\u2019t exist with Taylor Fritz, even to the point where he can say, you know, I haven\u2019t beaten this person before, but I know I\u2019m going to. That\u2019s a superpower, and he shows it every single time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taylor Fritz extends his winning streak against Alexander Zverev<\/p>\n

With his final win at the Laver Cup, Fritz extended his winning streak against Zverev to six matches. <\/p>\n

Since the German won their clash in the quarterfinals of the Italian Open in 2024, the US number one has taken the victory in each of their meetings at tour-level events. <\/p>\n
